Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Lord Rowan Williams said Britain was not a nation of believers and that the era of widespread worship was over.Lord Williams cannot allow this faux pas from the odious Tory leader to pass without comment. England is a Christian nation?! The cheek!
It comes after Prime Minister David Cameron said people in Britain should be confident of its status as "a Christian country".
Lord Williams, who retired from being the leader of the Church of England in 2012, said: "If I say that this is a post-Christian nation, that doesn't mean necessarily non-Christian.And who's doing is that, Lord Williams? If the flock should stray do you blame the sheep? Or the shepherd?
"It means the cultural memory is still quite strongly Christian."
He added: "But [Britain is] post-Christian in the sense that habitual practice for most of the population is not taken for granted.
"A Christian nation can sound like a nation of committed believers and we are not that. Equally, we are not a nation of dedicated secularists.
"It's a matter of defining terms. A Christian country as a nation of believers? No.

Here's my favorite part, though:
"Church members accused Communist leaders in Zhejiang province of ordering an anti-church crackdown and claimed there were plans to completely or partially demolish at least 10 places of worship.
Officials rejected those accusations, alleging the church had violated building codes."

Yeah, that's exactly what you'd expect from Obama.
But it isn't like the Chicoms to offer some fig-leaf like this as an excuse. Usually they just shoot the guy and mail a bill for the bullet to his mother.
