Sweden says: Let them die!

I've been holding fire on Sweden so far because I wanted to let the news reports build up, and let the numbers tell their own story. Well, the numbers are in.

Most of the 3,698 people who have died from corona virus in Sweden so far were over 70, despite the fact that the country said shielding risk groups was its top priority.

Sweden, with 10m inhabitants, has kept more of society open than is the case in most of Europe.

...

Sweden did ban visits to care homes on 31 March. But as in many European countries, relatives, staff and union officials have shared concerns that protective clothing arrived too late, and that some staff may have gone to work at the start of the crisis despite showing symptoms of Covid-19.

Now, increasing numbers of workers are also coming forward to criticise regional healthcare authorities for protocols which they say discourage care home workers from sending residents into hospital, and prevent care home and nursing staff from administering oxygen without a doctor's approval, either as part of acute or palliative (end-of-life) services.

They're pretty much letting them die. Oxygen not administered, hydrochloroquine not given, no PPE for the staff, no special efforts at all, really. Oh but they finally acknowledged there might be a problem on March 31st when they curtailed visiting hours.

Here's the Swedish Prime Minister's massage:

At a recent news conference, Sweden's Prime Minister Stefan Löfven told the BBC that regional authorities had been trusted to make sure healthcare provision "works the best way" and given extra resources from the state to cover costs connected to Covid-19.

Last week the government also announced a further 2.2bn kronor (£185m) for additional training within care homes, with a view to creating 10,000 permanent positions for assistant nurses and care workers.

Mr Löfven said it wasn't currently the right time to reflect on potential failures, but a national commission would look at how things had been handled at a local, regional and national level as soon as the "acute" phase of the crisis was over.

Translating from the Swedish: "We're going to pretend to throw some of your money at it later. Now shut up and get back to work, you've got taxes to pay."

To put this in perspective, Sweden has so far lost more people to the corona virus than California. Okay? California, 3289. Sweden, 3698. California has four times Sweden's population. Canada, with roughly the same population has ~5600 deaths, so we're not doing as well as California. But even with the slow-motion horror that is the senior citizen care homes of Montreal, Canada is still doing about three times better than Sweden.

People forget that Sweden is a socialist nation. To a socialist, letting the "useless" old people in government funded care homes die looks like a cost savings.

First world problems: "I'm scared of being buried as the wrong gender."

I'm sorry LGBTQetc people, but this is a bridge too far during a pandemic emergency.

"Coronavirus: 'I'm scared of being buried as the wrong gender'"

Even though lockdown measures have eased a little in England, the "stay alert" guidance is still affecting daily life. Seven weeks on, some LGBT people have told the BBC they are in more danger than ever before.

Lucy, 21, from the north-east of England is transgender and has severe heart issues. After years spent living as a woman, she says she has "no doubt" her parents would bury her as a man if she was to die from coronavirus.

"They'll shave my long hair, put me in a suit, use my birth name and call me 'he' all the way through the funeral. The thought of my family doing it makes me feel so sick, but I know they will.

Because the most important thing about catching a fatal disease is what they bury you in. For fuck sakes.

But then they go on:

Lucy does not have a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC), an official document which formally acknowledges someone's gender identity.

Krystyna Hebb, helpline manager at Mermaids, says not having a GRC leaves trans people vulnerable, however many find the process "too difficult" to go through.

"When living, a trans person can go by any name or gender. But after dying, if they have no legal documents, their family can take over. If their family aren't supportive of their identity, that can lead to problems."

So really, the most important thing going on right now is that although there IS a specific government program to prevent this heinous eeevile, the form is too difficult to fill out and families are very very dangerous and oh my think of the poor children. There oughta be a law!

You're thinking this is the Guardian, but no. This is the BBC.

Corona killers: Transit, bureaucrats, censorship.

USA Today accidentally printed the truth again.

Coronavirus lessons on density, mass transit, bureaucracy and censorship: They kill.

But there are some things that are becoming reasonably clear. Following are a few coronavirus lessons, useful now and in preparing for future events.

►Density kills. The coronavirus has been much more deadly in places like New York City or Boston than in rural settings.

►Mass Transit kills. Kotkin mentions mass transit, and an MIT study found that NYC subways were a "major disseminator" of the coronavirus in New York.

Those two are pretty obvious. More people equals more and faster infections. Jamming people together in un-washed train cars equals perfect petri dish for any disease.

This next one though, this is the thing I've been screaming about for probably 30 years now.

►Bureaucracy kills. Much of the fight against the coronavirus has also involved a fight against bureaucrats dead set on making things worse. Early on, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared COVID-19 a public health emergency, which raised the bar for testing requirements. As a result, hospitals and universities faced significant barriers to getting alternative tests approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Worse yet, the CDC tests turned out to be defective. As James R. Copland writes, this wasn't political interference, but the work of professional bureaucrats"The botched regulatory response in the United States owed little to the choices of political actors. The individuals running the FDA and CDC are experts in their field, not hacks." Even distilleries that wanted to switch to making hand sanitizer, to alleviate deadly shortages in health care facilities and other institutions, were slowed by the FDA. Fixing things has required a lot of regulations to be overturned or suspended; hopefully we'll think long and hard before reinstating them after the crisis is over.

Yes. Finally. And irony of all ironies, it is printed in USA Today, the paper of Big Government Socialism.

►Censorship kills. The Chinese government censored reports of the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, punished doctors who talked about it and lied to the world for weeks — while allowing flights from the infected area to carry people from Wuhan all over the world.

That's the final missing piece I see nobody talking about. This is all down to the government and bureaucrats of Communist China covering their asses and saving face at the expense of letting a PLAGUE loose on the rest of the world.

So what are social media and TV/radio/newspapers filled with? Demands for more censorship.

Because the ruling class believes, with all their hearts, that people are stupid. They have to be controlled. They will lie to you and kill you to keep you under control. They're doing it right now. We can see them doing it.

Cosplay is now a life-threatening pursuit in Canada.

The police culture of Canada on display in Alberta yesterday. Twitter video of a cosplay storm trooper standing in front of Coco Vanilla Galactic Cantina, with Star Wars music playing, with the owner standing in the doorway yelling that the storm trooper is his employee and the gun is a prop, on May the Fourth, there she is getting tackled to the ground by screaming cops like a serial killer.

From CTV, the Communist Televisision network:

While dressed as a stormtrooper, Ashley, 19, went into the parking lot of the Coco Vanilla Galactic Cantina in Lethbridge at the direction of her manager. She danced with blaster in hand on May the Fourth — the day fans celebrate the film franchise as a play on the iconic "May the force be with you" line.
Lethbridge Police Service arrived with guns drawn and the stormtrooper dropped the plastic toy to the ground.
"Apparently a couple of people had called 911 and said that there was somebody with a gun on 13 Street N.," said Brad Whalen, the restaurant's owner. "A number of police officers had shown up to our business with guns drawn on our employee."
Whalen says Ashley suffered a bloody nose after she was tackled to the ground by officers and handcuffed.
"The officers approached the person and provided verbal directions to that person to drop the weapon, to put themselves on to the ground," said Insp. Jason Walper of the LPS. "The person did not comply with police verbal directions. Eventually they did after multiple repeated orders given by the police officers."

Okay, I can hear some of you saying this is all just a sad mistake. No, it is not. This is police standard procedure. How do I know? They've done the exact same thing before. Repeatedly.

For the Stupid Set, I'm going to lay out a map for you. Cosplay in Canada is dangerous. The person in the costume and the bystanders not in costume run a very high risk of death by gunfire, due to assholes calling 911 and badly trained cops responding with their weapons drawn. You could -die- because some cop has an accidental discharge from the fully automatic assault rifle he hasn't been properly trained to use. Somebody standing in a store two blocks away could die from the same thing. .223 ammunition can travel up to two miles.

That's how it is. The question is, should we put up with that? No, we should not. This is supposed to be a free country, my friends. If there's one thing kids should be fucking well free to do, it is play dress-up and run around showing off their costumes without the risk of getting shot by the cops.

And fuck whoever called 911 on that poor girl. In a just society that asshole would spend a week in jail for making a false report.

The Phantom

Update: This just keeps getting better.
The business owner said he headed outside, and witnessed a number of police officers with guns drawn.
"She had, at that point, been down on her knees, her blaster -- the plastic blaster she was using -- had been over by the corner of the parking lot, the police had already looked at it. They picked it up and had seen that it was just a plastic prop."
In the release from police, LPS said the employee sustained a minor injury but did not require medical attention. Whalen said when police made her get down on her stomach on the ground, she got a bloody nose.
"My concern isn't that police responded to someone who called and reported. My problem is that after they determined that it was a fake prop, police still continued to yell at her with the guns pointed, telling her to, 'get down on her face, get down on her face,' and then proceeded to handcuff her after they knew that it was a plastic prop toy," said Whalen.

Upperdate: Here's what sometimes happens when Karen calls 911.

TL/DR, the cops fired seven rounds into a guy with no weapon in his hands who had his hands up in surrender. Four of those rounds hit him when he was lying on his face on the ground. Clue for the clueless, much more than seven rounds rounds were fired, its just that they missed him most of the time. At point-blank range. Inside a Costco. An open Costco, with people in it.

How incompetent are the Liberals?

Its a pressing question these days, given the Liberals are the ones handling a pandemic. One wrong move and a fatal disease could get loose in Canada... oh wait.

https://www.rebelnews.com/trudeau_bans_website_and_facebook_group_as_part_of_firearm_ban

The shiny new list of firearms that are banned in Canada as of yesterday (May Day don't forget) contains two web sites, a Facebook page and the name and phone number for Bartlet's locksmith in New Brunswick.

The smart Canadian citizen looking at that will realize that moronic hipster dicks who know -nothing- about guns, or criminals, or pretty much anything at all, went on Google and made a list of everything they found in half an hour. That's how much thought they put into banning millions of dollars worth of private property. None. Zero. Nada.

Which, dear Canadians, is the reason that COVID-19 is running around our country and making you stay home, unemployed, with your savings trickling away into the dust. Because the Liberal Party is composed of idiots who can't even make a frigging list from a Google search.

Happy May Day, peasants. You may give up your guns now.

I went out to cut the grass, and when I came back Trudeau has banned a whole bunch of guns.

1) M16, AR-10, and AR-15 rifles and M4 carbine (which represent one family of firearms commonly known as the AR Platform)

2) Ruger Mini-14 rifle

3) Vz58 rifle

4) US Rifle M14

5) Beretta Cx4 Storm carbine

6) Robinson Armament XCR rifle

7) CZ Scorpion EVO 3 carbine and pistol

8) SIG Sauer SIG MCX and SIG Sauer SIG MPX carbines and pistols

9) Swiss Arms Classic Green and Four Seasons series rifles

And new categories!

1) Firearms with 20 mm bore or greater

2) Firearms capable of discharging a projectile with a muzzle energy greater than 10 000 joules. That means anything that shoots a .50 BMG rifle cartridge.

If you are unfortunate to own any of the above, you are now a criminal. They're giving you two years to get rid of it before they come for you. Because fuck your private property, Canadians.
