While the federal government is telling us we are a bunch of racists and we shouldn't wear masks to curb the spread of COVID-19, otherwise known as the Kung Flu, the Wuhan Flu, the Chinese Communist BioWeapon Flu, the Bat Flu, and etc... the Premiere of Ontario is saying we need to be making masks right here in Ontario instead of begging China for them.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has been leading an effort to get the province's manufacturers to retool to make key pieces of equipment during the crisis. Speaking Thursday, Ford said that it's time Ontario and Canada were self-sufficient in providing this gear.
"We're going to start manufacturing them. We're going to encourage hospitals to support these manufacturers. We can never, ever be put in this position again that we're relying on countries around the world to support us with PPEs," Ford said.
Yes my friends, there it is. REAL government leadership and application of government power to do something constructive about the Wuhan-Flu. Got a mask shortfall because the Feds are useless liars and corrupt puppets of China? Can't get foreign companies to fulfill their commitments because they're a bunch of thieving assholes? No problem, JUST MAKE MORE!
Anybody think Kathleen "Sexy Librarian" Wynne would be working with industry to make more masks and gloves? No fricking way.
And that is why I consistently vote Conservative. Because while Conservatives are often boring and funny looking, at least they live in the Real World with the rest of us, and they understand that food doesn't come from the store. Farmers grow it. They understand that masks don't come from the hospital. Companies make them, and usually they make them out of Canadian paper and Canadian petroleum products.

Taiwan's response to the outbreak was amazing to behold.
I don't have the link handy, but their subsidized masks all have the Taiwanese flag on them, for maximum Social Credit damage if they "accidentally" get stolen by the mainland.

When this finally blows over, how does one go about getting this "OSHA training" for mask fitting and PPE use?

OSHA training. Yeah. I've had ALL the training you can shake a stick at. As a physical therapist, on the industrial side, in the army. For infectious disease, harmful dusts, inert dusts, organic vapors, paint spray (that shit gets in -everywhere-), harmful gasses, fire. All the training. Most of it is punctilious bullshit created by guys who have never held a gun or a paintbrush in their seat-polishing lives, but the basics are sound.
All that training is telling me the Liberals are lying like a bunch of Persian carpets. They're just fucking lying.
My next post is going to be on the use of home-made masks. Our government is actively discouraging the use of masks, which is insanity. This is an AIRBORN virus, you can catch it from somebody else's breathing. Many cases are infectious with zero symptoms. All cases are infectious before symptoms appear.
As Kate said at Small Dead Animals, look at what the Chicoms are doing. Their Wuhan medical staff are dressed for a Level 5 Resident Evil outbreak. Why? Because its a fucking airborn virus! It FLOATS when you breath or cough.
But, as will be seen in the video, if all you do is strap a sock across your face you will massively reduce the airborn virus risk. The mask isn't much use as a -filter- per se, but it will trap water droplets from your breath.
Dr. Kathleen Tam KNOWS this. She knows it a lot better than I do, because she's had ten-times the training I've had and she's the fricking head of public health. For her to come out and say masks don't work because people are stupid, its unbelievable. I literally can't believe they went there.
Its up to all of us Canadians to get this done. Wear a mask when you're out. Fuck Health Canada.
