The new Venom movie came out this week. I saw it today. I give it a solid three out of five. 3/5 Its not boring, its not irretrievably stupid, they kept the SJW bullshit to a minimum. There's some good comedy, good car chases and lots of cool shit blowing up. This is not a cerebral movie, there are no deep thoughts here. But that's okay, I can work with that.
Bottom line, better than Justice League. Not a ton better, but still. We take what we can get these days.

These days, when I get the urge to see a comic book-style movie I mostly just pull out my copy of The Rocketeer again.
I'm not saying they're all bad; obviously, they aren't. But the disconnect between the movies I enjoy and the ones that receive general praise (ignoring critics, here) seems to be growing. Honestly, I'm still scratching my head over the rave reviews for Wonder Woman and Black Panther. Neither were bad, I just didn't think they lived up to the hype.
Of the recent glut, the first Captain America, the first Avengers, and Guardians of the Galaxy were probably my favorites. I don't think I've seen any of them in the theater since the first Guardians.
Helpful review. Thx
Greetings gents. Alyric, I too have a copy of The Rocketeer. Excellent movie, big fun.
I was conferring with Young Relative, and it seems the last time we went to the movies was for Ant Man and the Wasp. Which was big fun. But that means for the movie companies that we skipped literally everything else. That's bad for them.
But what do we see from the media? The one review I read on Venom was that it was a "dumpster fire" of a movie. That was what made me decide to see it. If an MSM critic calls it a dumpster fire, it can't be that bad.
I was not disappointed, it wasn't that bad. Because all the crap that MSM critics like was missing. No gratuitous torture, no perverted sleaze, almost no SJW posturing, beyond the usual "Capitalism Bad" boilerplate.
There's an interesting article today at Small Dead Animals. https://www.dailywire.com/news/36986/major-hollywood-studio-upheaval-after-putting-out-paul-bois
Basically a Hollywood film company has been putting out Lefty propaganda, getting lots of awards, and losing money.
