WorldCon finds Pre-Crime doesn't pay.

Ah yes, remember this little beauty?

Previously, Mr. Jon Del Arroz was banned from WorldCon and called a racist by them... for talking on the Internet.

He hadn't done anything or said anything prohibited by the WorldCon rules. He mentioned he might wear a GoPro camera at the convention, in case some of the scooter-riders might try to hit him with their oxygen tanks. (Okay I made up the scooter part, but it was in that vein.)

Pre-crime. He -might- do something in the future, and they didn't like him anyway, so they banned him.

He sued them. And through the last several years, the suit dragged on.

Well, today the WorldCon apologized and paid Mr. Del Arroz money. I expect they thought it would be cheaper to admit the truth and knuckle under than continue to pretend they were in the right. Potentially be stuck for legal fees and court costs. That could hurt.

What goes around, comes around.

As Vox Day pointed out, this will turn every shrieking SJW into a potential legal liability.

Between this and all of the arbitration wins, things are finally looking up.

Imagine if you will, some pink-haired sea mammal screaming "RAAAACIST!!!!" and throwing a 'milkshake' at a visiting lecturer, and the school ends up owing the guy a million bucks for defamation. Because of course it -is- defamation and they -should- loose the lawsuit.

Very soon, the pink-haired set will be getting tossed out of schools all over the place. Kind of like Conservatives are getting tossed now, but for an actual legit reason.

Worldcon didn't pay him much because they don't have much. Despite the name, they really don't represent the world of SF fandom. Most fans don't go to conventions, haunt the dark places on the internet like File 770, or even care what the SFWA says. To the majority of SF fans, science fiction is just a form of entertainment, not a damn life style choice.
