Angry relatives of 9/11 victims last night clashed with supporters of a planned mosque near Ground Zero at a raucous community-board hearing in Manhattan.
After four hours of public debate, members of Community Board 1 finally voted 29-1 in support of the project. Nine members abstained, arguing that they wanted to table the issue and vote at a later date.
The board has no official say over whether the estimated $100 million mosque and community center gets built. But the panel's support, or lack of it, is considered important in influencing public opinion.
No, really. These retards voted 29/1 to build a mosque on the World Trade Center site. In the same town where some freak Islamist just tried to blow up Times Square last month. Because of a TV show. And would have blown it up too, if he weren't an incompetent wanker.

I just returned from NYC on Monday after a four-day vacation there.
One thing we noticed during our tours and meanderings through NYC, whether in downtown at WTC, on the Harbour Line Cruise, perusing the shops and sites or in Midtown: Absolutely no use of the word "Islamic" when referencing 911, and only one instance where the attacks were called "terrorist attacks," and that was on a plaque on the fence of the church referenced in the article. Everyone and everything related to tourism classified the 911 Islamic terrorist attack as a generic "unfortunate event" or "disaster" or "attack". The willful denial of the source of 911 was blatant and distasteful.
Mark, I lived "up-state" north of White Plains for the four longest years of my life. It is as if the rest of the world does not exist once you pass the toll booth to NYC.

Once you get out of the five boroughs, people are mainly conservative and vote Republican. Its reflected in the electoral map every time. This is because they know 95% of their state taxes go to die in NYC's bottomless pit of social spending.
