Yet another example of why I do not buy comics anymore.
The PhantomMay bankruptcy claim your worthless, lying hipster asses.Perhaps it is just a coincidence, but perhaps not.
In the recent issue of Action Comics #987, "The Oz Effect," released Wednesday, Superman arrives in the nick of time to protect a group of undocumented immigrants from a white man sporting an American flag bandanna, wielding a machine gun, who is going to shoot them for taking his job.
What's so hard to grasp is that they have seen what happened to Marvell, and then grabbed some of that failure action for themselves.
ReplyDeleteWhat they don't have in their corner is a bankable series of movies to absorb the pain.
I'm convinced these media companies have been taken over by people who simply don't care if the whole thing goes bankrupt. They'll use up the brand until its ground away to nothing, then move on to the next thing.
ReplyDeleteThe whole world is Wayne's World.
DeleteYou are actually exactly right. The people making the decision to publish that story need to signal their politically correct beliefs to friends in the industry so that when they go bankrupt, somebody else will hire them.
DeleteTo quote the inimitable David Burge:

2. kill it.
3. gut it.
4. wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect.

Time Warner is every bit as leftist as Disney and unafraid of the consequences. Remember, for superhero movies, China contributes more to the profits than the US.
ReplyDeleteI miss the issue where Supes arrived in time to save the Kate Steinle stand in?
ReplyDeleteIn other words the lefties in the media biz have gone full Marxist as it applies to fantasy fiction and by god they are not gonna let it survive,so help them Gorp.
ReplyDeleteIowahawk said it best:
ReplyDelete1. Identify a respected institution.
2. Kill it.
3. Gut it.
4. Wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect.
Superman used to be a respected institution. Now he's a skin suit worn by self-righteous leftists.
David Burge @iowahawkblog
ReplyDelete1. Target a respected institution
2. Kill & clean it
3. Wear it as a skin suit, while demanding respect
Phantom, you have just described what the Great Prophetess Ayn Rand (PBUH) nailed in detail some 50 to 70 years ago.
ReplyDeleteSHe called them "looters", and their Kingdoms built upon the wealth of others for the short time they exist pre-collapse.... "looter-states".
Nostradamus was a piker.
As read elsewhere:
ReplyDelete1). Identify a respected institution or company
2). Kill it
3). Wear the carcass as a skin suit
4). Demand respect
It's what cultural parasites do, to institutions where the heavy lifting has already been done, by "others".
ReplyDeleteAh, the good ol' days, when Archie took a bullet for "gay"!

I nice illustration of how deep the rot goes that even this excerpt, whose only reason for existing is to point out the rot, uses the dishonest euphemism "undocumented immigrants" to describe illegal aliens.
ReplyDeletePhantom, if you're approving posts, you can disregard my last one. That was my reaction to the excerpt. Now that I've followed the link, I see, unbeliveably, that it was delivered straight.
ReplyDeleteThey've seen what happens to comics that go "full-SJW" - failure.
ReplyDeleteSo, they try the same - HARDER.
Because HARDER is what makes it work.
Iowahawk has this right: https://static.pjmedia.com/instapundit/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/SKINSUIT.png
ReplyDeletePhantom: you're absolutely correct.
ReplyDeleteRobert Conquest’s Three Laws of Politics:
1. Everyone is conservative about what he knows best.
2. Any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing.
3. The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies.
You're just figuring out the program? Iowahawk nailed it years ago:
ReplyDelete1. Identify a respected institution
2. Kil it
3. Gut it
4. Wear the skin as a suit while demanding respect
Hey, if it works for the New York Times ...
ReplyDeleteAs Iowahawk says:
ReplyDelete1. Identify a respected institution.
2. kill it.
3. gut it.
4. wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect.

"They'll use up the brand until its ground away to nothing, then move on to the next thing." They are the very definition of parasites.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the comments. Looks like Blogspot kept everything in moderation all night.
ReplyDeleteDavid Burge is the prophet of our times, for sure.
