Take your good intention in one hand and spit in the other...

Habitat for Humanity is being sued!

RESIDENTS of a model housing estate bankrolled by Hollywood celebrities and hand-built by Jimmy Carter, the former US president, are complaining that it is falling apart.

Fairway Oaks was built on northern Florida wasteland by 10,000 volunteers, including Carter, in a record 17-day "blitz" organised by the charity Habitat for Humanity.

Eight years later it is better known for cockroaches, mildew and mysterious skin rashes.

I will note here that eight years is about the right length of time for the paint and the caulking to have cracked on the exterior.  Florida is pretty rainy, you don't keep up with the painting and bad things start to happen.

Maybe giving a house to people who don't understand/can't afford basic maintenance is not the best idea?
