Flight 93 Memorial an insult.

Gentlemen,

In the faint, faint hope that this won't be deleted instantly, I'd like
to comment on your company's design for the Flight 93 Memorial.

Here's what I wrote to the National Park Service:

That's for the bureaucrats who chose your insult over all the other
insults offered.

To you, author of this particular slap in the face to Western
civilization, I'd like to propose my own design which would face toward
Mecca. I think the symbolism will not be lost on you.

Athena astride the crater where the aircraft crashed, standing over the
wreckage, spear in hand, in the act of hurling it westward. Behind her
the 40 passengers and crew of Flight 93, every one with a spear ready
for Athena's hand.

The same statue will also work for Ground Zero, but in New York we make
it big enough to use a real F-15 Eagle as the tip [of the spear].

There's some symbolism for you to think upon.

  1. The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offence, isn’t it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill — he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offence, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it, and so pass to genuine vindictiveness.

Looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, could be a duck. Doubtful its not a duck, let's just say.

And hey, if its not a deliberate, heavy handed post-modernist slap in the face to Traditional America in general and specifically to the valliant dead of Flight 93, no doubt we will hear soon enough.
