DC Comics wins Top Ten in 2017

Yes, Apple DOES slow your older iPhone.
Apple just published a letter to customers apologizing for the "misunderstanding" around older iPhones being slowed down, following its recent admission that it was, in fact, slowing down older phones in order to compensate for degrading batteries. "We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down," says the company. "We apologize."
It is not a tiny house!
The author is not deceived. To commune with ourselves, we must trek two hours to Stanardsville, a town on the edge of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains whose population has stairstepped down over the years to 384 people, a country store and this wooded plot, which, before 20 tiny houses arrived this fall, was an RV campground called Heavenly Acres.
The heavenly part is debatable. On the second official day of winter, the tract is a colorless bog, surrounded by tall, barren trees and covered with a blanket of dead leaves. But this, promises Getaway — a start-up that offers these rental not-cabins and this not-camping not far from major cities — is where we may rejuvenate our very souls.
As our car crunches up the gravel driveway, we pass an ominous charcoal-gray box on wheels. A sign proclaims it "Lenore." It is a carbon copy of Lillian, Hank, Felix and Shirley, which is the tiny house we have been assigned, we learn in a succinct text from the company that also feeds us an entry code.
"Idiot," you think. "This is called camping."
Not exactly. Now, in tiny houses that no one will acknowledge are honestly just what we used to call cabins, it's called "escaping."
What you are is BROKE. You made stupid life choices that landed you in crushing debt, you live in stupid cities with stupid high taxes, you work stupid, soul-destroying shit jobs for sociopathic assholes, and therefore you cannot afford a nice vacation.

Bread and corruption.
A woman from Elliot Lake, Ont. has filed a $1 billion class-action lawsuit against Loblaw Companies Ltd. after the company revealed it participated in industry-wide price-fixing of bread for 14 years.
Irene Breckon, a senior citizen and anti-poverty activist, is the lead plaintiff in the case on behalf of all Canadians who purchased bread at the grocery chain's stores beginning in January 2001.
Breckon is being represented by Toronto-based law firm Sotos LLP. The suit also names George Weston Ltd., Canada Bread Company and Walmart Canada Corp. among the defendants.
There's not much in the article, but what there is I have to say is damning. 14 years of industry-wide price fixing. Producers AND retailers. The sheer gall of it takes one's breath away. They are literally taking food out of people's mouths.

Socialist Dementia of Camels: an example.
He begins thus:
I’m inherently suspicious of anything and everything Rupert Murdoch does. If Murdoch is behind something then it is safe to assume that he wants ordinary people coming out worse in the deal and that somehow he is trying to make the world a shittier place. That doesn’t mean he always succeeds or that everything with “Fox” or even “News Corporation” written on it is cursed like some artefact from an RPG.
That's really big of you, Floppy. Not-cursed is magnanimous, I'm sure everyone will agree.
I don’t know what the full implications of that are but “Murdoch controls less’ sounds partly like good news, whereas “Murdoch ends up as the biggest shareholder in Disney” sounds like bad news. Of course, Disney only sounds good when compared with Rupert Murdoch. The deal is another step in Disney controlling a hefty chunk of IP. It isn’t exactly monopolistic power but it is reasonable to fear one corporation having that much cultural clout.
Absolutely. Because diversity of opinion in cultural affairs is clearly disastrous, and must be avoided at all costs.
Then Floppy talks a bunch of shit about the X-Men not fitting into the Marvel Universe, by which I assume he started reading comics since the 1990's. He missed the good ones, in other words. He comes down to the very end with this:
"Which brings me back to Disney. It was great seeing another Star Wars film yesterday and yes, I’m looking forward to Avengers: Infinity War but the obvious IP danger in Disney’s accretion disc style of aquistions is that it will become little more than a strip mine of IP rather than a source of new ideas."
1. How is this different than Marvel Comics since 1992? The movies work because they are made from 1980's comic stories, and the shitheads who run Marvel Comics now aren't allowed to touch the movies.
2. How could it possibly be worse than Sony Pictures and whatever idiots made Fantastic Four?
3. Would it be worse than DC comics movies? Worse than the Justice League?
We don't know, he doesn't say.
He saved the best line for last. This is the true danger of a Murdoch-influenced Disney:
"If it [Disney] avoids that trap then the popularity of its properties will only enable an economic behemoth [to] bully governments and exploit its workers."
As opposed to the way Hollywood and Disney bullies governments and and exploits workers now, right? Floppy, sometimes you amaze me. For fuck sakes, man. Two words: Harvey Weinstein.
Apart from anything else, in twenty years there won't BE any workers on movies, it'll all be green-screen, motion capture and CGI. Key Grips and Focus Pullers will take their place on the unemployment line next to all the people presently working at McDonalds who will surely be fired in the next five years.
Being a socialist must really suck. All that energy expended on outrage, and not a thing to show for it.

Dem WOMAN perv? Unpossible!
Andrea Ramsey, a Democratic candidate for Congress, will drop out of the race after the Kansas City Star asked her about accusations in a 2005 lawsuit that she sexually harassed and retaliated against a male subordinate who said he had rejected her advances.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the case told The Star that the man reached a settlement with LabOne, the company where Ramsey was executive vice president of human resources. Court documents show that the man, Gary Funkhouser, and LabOne agreed to dismiss the case permanently after mediation in 2006.

Hot girls and bacon!
Miss Israel on the left, and Miss Iraq on the right. |
Two Miss Israels, Rotem Rabi left, Adar Gandelsman right, twice as fabulous! |
Sarah Idan. You are the queen, baby! |
Unfortunately, two friends taking a selfie is DoublePlusUngood in some places on this revolving mudball.
The family of Iraq’s contestant in the Miss Universe Pageant have left the country due to threats to their lives over her modeling in a bikini and posting on social media photos taken with Miss Israel.Your daughter takes a selfie with another girl at a beauty pageant and you have to flee the fucking country? Yes! Here's why:
Miss Iraq, Sarah Idan, lives in the United States and the rest of her family has now fled the country, Miss Israel, Adar Gandelsman, told Hadashot news. Gandelsman said she has been in touch with Idan since the pageant and that the two women have a special relationship.
During the competition in Tokyo in November, Miss Israel, Gandelsman and Idan posed for photos on their respective Instagram accounts. Idan’s caption read: “Peace and Love from Miss Iraq and Miss Israel.”There are people in Iraq that do not want to live together, and they do not want anyone to see that Jews are human beings. There's a lot of that going around these days.
Gandelsman told Hadashot news that Idan said she does not regret posting the photos.
“She did it to so that people can understand that it’s possible to live together,” Gandelsman said. “In order for people to see that we can connect, in the end we are both human beings.”
Now I'm just rubbing it in. |
The two best things in the world, united for all time. Man's best friend, and the food of Heaven. |

WLU explains: "SHUT UP, Lindsay!!!!"
Lindsay Shepherd, crusher of dreams. [sarc] |
"I wonder if my mere presence is simply too triggering now."
That's how graduate student Lindsay Shepherd, who caused an uproar at Canada's Wilfrid Laurier University by showing undergraduates a gender-neutral pronoun debate, makes sense of the unexplained cancellation of her department-wide class this week.
Lindsay's great crime was to record her superiors in the act of being assholes. If she had been a nice, meek, good little girl and done as she was told, they'd have given her a pat on the head and sent her back to work. But because she decided she was NOT going to be pushed around and abused, he class is cancelled.
The lawyer hired by Canada's Wilfrid Laurier University to investigate a classroom incident involving gender-neutral pronouns has publicly taken sides on an issue related to the investigation.
Rob Centa, managing partner at Paliare Roland, has frequently tweeted about diversity and inclusion in law from his professional account, including his support for a controversial new requirement for lawyers that critics characterize as "forced speech."
The Law Society of Upper Canada licenses lawyers and paralegals in Ontario, where WLU is based. It started reminding legal professionals in September to submit a "Statement of Principles" confirming their "obligation to promote equality, diversity and inclusion," and rejected a proposed exemption for "conscientious objectors" earlier this month.
The intention of the change is to "address the barriers faced by racialized licensees," which is the society's term for nonwhite legal professionals.
The regulator encourages striving for "substantive equality," which "does not always require treating all people the same." To reiterate, it says: "Equality does not mean treating all people the same for all purposes."
Queen's University Law Prof. Bruce Pardy, a member of the Ontario society, warned in October that the new rules violated freedom of expression, protected by Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
I think it safe to assume the investigation will find that Lindsay Shepherd transgressed against her employer and must be fired. The message to all the other professors and teaching assistants is crystal clear.

Justice: In Canada the word makes you laugh!
Nour Marakah was a Toronto firearms trafficker who sent texts to his accomplice Andrew Winchester, basically telling him what handguns to buy. Though the majority of the firearms acquired by Winchester at Marakah's direction "and put on the street" remain unrecovered, two were found by police at crime scenes.
Winchester pleaded guilty to multiple firearms offences in 2014 and received an eight-year sentence.
While legally searching the men's homes, police also seized both their phones and, two hours later, searched them and found the incriminating texts.
Marakah was convicted of various firearm trafficking offences and sentenced to nine years in prison, minus time served in pre-trial custody, in 2015. He appealed, but the majority at the Ontario Court of Appeal upheld the decision. With Friday's decision, he is now acquitted.
What's funny is that a Canadian Supreme Court Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin decided, based on nothing, to invent a brand new human right and let this low-life get off. She invented that a text message is sacred. If you get a text message on your phone, and you show it to the cops voluntarily, unless they have a warrant to view it first it is inadmissible in court. No, I did not make that up:
Interestingly, Judge Malcolm Rowe, who sided with the majority, nonetheless said he shares Moldaver's concerns about "the consequences" of the decision. That means, for example, if a pervert sends text messages to your kid, and you show the kid's phone to the cops, they can't do squat about it."As Justice Moldaver suggests," Rowe wrote, "this would lead to the perverse result where the voluntary disclosure of text messages received by a complainant could be challenged by a sender who is alleged to have abused the complainant."

Oh noes! Trouble in Lefty paradise!
I am just sitting here with my popcorn. This is tooooo good! The stunning fall of Democratic Rep. John Conyers — who resigned Tuesday amid a growing sexual-harassment scandal — has left confusion, anger, resentment and bewilderment inside the ranks of the Congressional Black Caucus, a group that Conyers helped found nearly four decades ago.
Many CBC members see a double standard at play. They won't say the treatment of Conyers is racist, necessarily — and all express strong support for his alleged victims — but they think white politicians accused of similar misconduct like Blake Farenthold, Al Franken, Roy Moore and Donald Trump get a "benefit of the doubt" that black politicians don't enjoy.

Big Media is circling the bowl.
A key group of creditors rejected iHeartMedia Inc.'s latest debt restructuring proposal, and countered with their own deal that requires the company to file for chapter 11, the company disclosed on Thursday. The industry is trying to pretend that these networks are going down because of competition from the Internet, but they owe SO much money. According to the article, iHeart owes $15.5 BILLION dollars right now. That's like a squadron of B2 bombers.
The latest development in long-running restructuring negotiations at iHeart, the largest radio network in the U.S. by number of stations, comes a day after Cumulus Media Inc., the second-largest, filed for bankruptcy, succumbing to billions of dollars of debt and competitive pressures from digital platforms.

Conyers' accusers "all White."
A writer for The New York Times Magazine and National Geographic tweeted that Clyburn invoked the name of Susan Smith, South Carolina's infamous child murderer, in his defense of Conyers.
"James Clyburn compared Conyers' accusers to the child murderer Susan Smith, who initially claimed a black man had abducted her kids. Clyburn said, these are all white women who've made these charges against Conyers," Robert Draper tweeted.
When asked if that comment was true, Draper said he verified it through two sources, adding "Clyburn has used the Susan Smith parallel more than once, to members & staffers."

Salon: The case for Hillary 2020!
Slow your roll there. Clinton's poll numbers aren't too good right now (OK, they're downright atrocious), but there are still four great reasons to consider choosing her as the Democratic nominee in 2020.
Dems: SHUT UP #MeToo b1tchez!
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi on Sunday urged "due process" before making conclusions about Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., following accusations of sexual harassment, saying the 27-term Congressman is "an icon" who has worked to protect women."We are strengthened by due process. Just because someone is accused - and was it one accusation? Is it two?" Pelosi said on "Meet The Press."
"John Conyers is an icon in our country. He has done a great deal to protect women - Violence Against Women Act, which the left - right-wing - is now quoting me as praising him for his work on that, and he did great work on that," she added. "But the fact is, as John reviews his case, which he knows, which I don't, I believe he will do the right thing."
What's bad is, it was supposed to be directional.
It was supposed to seek and destroy Conservative politicians, Conservative cultural icons, Conservative businessmen. But the Lefties have been a protected species forever. They've been getting a free pass since John F. Kennedy had his very own staff of sex-kittens on the public payroll in the White House. (He did. Look it up, Lefties.) They've been grabbing asses and stealing kisses forever, raping and destroying women at will, and EVERYBODY KNEW that if a woman pointed a finger at one of them, she was done like a Christmas turkey. Stick a fork in her.

True presidential approval rating.
Remington Outdoor, the second-largest U.S. gunmaker has suffered a "rapid" and "sharp" deterioration in sales and a similar drop in profits since January, and faces "continued softness in consumer demand for firearms," credit analysts at Standard & Poor's Global Ratings said in a report Friday.
A backlog of unsold, unwanted firearms will force Remington to operate at a loss and "pressure the company's sales and profitability at least through early 2018, resulting in insufficient cash flow for debt service and fixed charges," unless Remington gives up cash to pay for ongoing operations, S&P adds.

Justice League vs. The Punisher
The problem with it was the same problem DC comics has in general, and DC comic movies always have: they don't respect the source material. The characters are not allowed any time to solve problems in the story, to show their individual nature. The things that work in the DC comics are not in the script or the characterizations. Instead the movie writers start from a blank page and put "their spin" on the iconic characters. That this does not work, ever, seems not to deter them from doing it every single time. See Fantastic Four, Batman vs. Superman
This last bit is key to understanding why modern Hollywood sucks, why these huge, megabudget movies keep crashing, and why it is a really bad idea to let guys like Harvey Weinstein work in your movie company. The highly accentuated up-the-kilt shot is a pr0nz-film standard. It doesn't belong in a movie kids are going to watch, and it doesn't belong in the portrayal of a heroic character. Wonder Woman is meant to be a virtuous paladin, protector of the realm. It does not help us see her that way when we keep seeing her ass taking up a full third of the screen.

SJWs: Its okay to hate nerds.
Now, let me start off this article by emphasizing something: it's the author of this Guardian article, not James Damore himself, who makes the harmful suggestion that Damore's infamous Google memo and subsequent doubling-down are somehow caused by his autism. This is yet another example of the harmful ways that our culture writes about autistic people – and how damaging that narrative can be.
Well, Marykate, its supposed to tell you that you do not understand autism, and you do not understand Mr. Damore. At all. Hillariously, the author puts this trigger warning right at the start of the article:This whole article is peppered with weird suggestions like this, suggestions which detract from an otherwise interesting piece. Lewis also quotes another former Google employee on the autism spectrum, who was "fired last year in the wake of a dispute with a female colleague" after previously being reprimanded when he "queried the use of non-binary pronouns during the [LGBT rights] meeting and bluntly questioned whether gender is on a spectrum." As a result, this employee "alleges his dismissal is explained by Google's failure to understand how autism causes him to talk or act in ways that others misinterpret."
Why is the only other person with autism mentioned in this article also someone who has a problem with women? Like, what is this supposed to tell me?
[NB: I know that opinion is somewhat mixed about person-first versus identity-first language, and both sides feel very strongly; since I'm not autistic, I don't get to have an opinion on this, and I've therefore switched between the two here to try and acknowledge both.]
Marykate Jasper says its okay. Hate the nerds. Unless you need one to reprogram your phone. Then you should pretend to like them until the phone is fixed.

SJWs: hands off Franken!
As a feminist and the author of a book on rape culture, I could reasonably be expected to lead the calls for Al Franken to step down, following allegations that he forced his tongue down a woman's throat, accompanied by a photo of him grinning as he moves in to grope her breasts while she sleeps. It's disgusting. He treated a sleeping woman as a comedy prop, no more human than the contents of Carrot Top's trunk, and I firmly believe he should suffer social and professional consequences for it.
But I don't believe resigning from his position is the only possible consequence, or the one that's best for American women.
Cynics on both the right and left will presume I am passing by this particular steam tray on 2017's smorgasbord of feminist outrage because Franken is a Democrat, and so am I. (I was even his proud constituent for two years.) In the most superficial sense, this is true. But it's meaningless to say it's because I am a Democrat without asking why I am a Democrat. If you understand what it means to be a Democrat today — that is, why it makes sense to vote blue over red in this highly polarized political environment — you can understand why it might not make the most sense to demand Franken's resignation, effective immediately.
She wants him to say sorry and go on a listening tour. She even says exactly why:
In other words, if we set this precedent in the interest of demonstrating our party's solidarity with harassed and abused women, we're only going to drain the swamp of people who, however flawed, still regularly vote to protect women's rights and freedoms. The legislative branch will remain chockablock with old, white Republican men who regard women chiefly as sex objects and unpaid housekeepers, and we'll show them how staunchly Democrats oppose their misogynistic attitudes by handing them more power.
Leeann Tweeden under the bus tomorrow morning.
The Flopatron Files Take 4. Because the stupid never stops.
Today, Al Franken got outed as an alleged molester. This is a problem for the Left, because if Franken steps down, the US Senate es even more deeply in Republican hands.
CamelFlop seems to have taken this to heart.
That somebody might be likeable, be effective or have admirable politics shouldn’t change what is or isn’t acceptable behaviour. There is a different conversation about reform and change and forgiveness that could be had at a different time but now isn’t that time.Floppy does call for Franken to resign, but just can't help himself and praises the man as having "admirable politics." Because for Floppy, politics trumps all. It's forgivable to be a woman molester, if you have admirable politics.
My comment earlier was that I wanted to know who was the greater liar, Franken or Roy Moore. Floppy of course didn't post that, it's inconvenient to his narrative.
This evening some new scandal has come to light, so I thought I'd rub Floppy's nose in it a bit.
https://www.npr.org/2017/11/16/564629232/chairman-steps-down-as-npr-grapples-with-harassment-crisisI'll keep doing these comments this way until he either bans me or starts posting the comments like a normal human being.
Uh oh, a bunch of skeletons fell out of the closet at NPR today, Camestros. That would be National Public Radio, the glowing pink with socialist goodness American radio network. Riddled with perverts. So surprising!
Meanwhile, all your friends and fellow travelers are starting to suggest all these women shut up and take one for the team. Like they did before. Because the -truth- is that Leftists do not give a single shit about women's rights or women's safety. And you can tell by the number of super duper prominent Lefties getting outed with decades long track records. Al Fucking Franken, Camestros.
I don't think Republicans give a shit either, but they at least don't pretend to.
You remember a couple days ago when I suggested that women have to look after themselves? Are you beginning to understand why I said that?
This comment will be up at my blog, by the way, due to the continuing retardation you're exhibiting with deleting comments. You should probably make a decision on the banning issue. Until you do, I'm going to continue enjoying dropping these inconvenient truths into your inbox.
Al Franken, Camestros! Bwahahaaaa! Tell me again how bad Trump is. Go on. You know you want to.

The future of retail or the end?
Look for this type of thing to pop up first in high-end fashionable neighborhoods, as a novelty gimmick. Look for it to end up becoming the standard in ghettos where being a cashier is as dangerous as being the bomb disposal guy.For the past year, Amazon employees have been test driving Amazon Go, an experimental convenience store in downtown Seattle. The idea is to let consumers walk in, pick up items and then pay for them without ever standing in line at a cashier. Amazon is vague on the mechanics, but the store relies on a mobile app and some of the same sensing technology that powers self-driving cars to figure out who is buying what.
Employees have tried to fool the technology. One day, three enterprising Amazonians donned bright yellow Pikachu costumes and cruised around grabbing sandwiches, drinks and snacks. The algorithms nailed it, according to a person familiar with the situation, correctly identifying the employees and charging their Amazon accounts, even though they were obscured behind yellow polyester.
Irony: Huffpoo is toxic to women.
Arianna Huffington Ignored Sexual Misconduct at The Huffington Post
In May of 2014, Huffington sent a laudatory memo to her then staff at the Huffington Post about the promotion of one of her most trusted lieutenants Jimmy Soni, the then-managing editor at the Huffington Post and widely seen as her favorite among the editorial leadership team. Huffington announced to her employees that Soni would be leaving to launch HuffPost India in New Delhi, a surprising move since he had been promoted to managing editor in January 2012 with no direct background in editorial and after serving as Huffington's chief of staff for just nine months.
Not publicly known at that time was why Soni was suddenly being sent abroad and away from the newsroom. A few months later Gawker revealed that the transfer was likely the result of an HR investigation into whether Soni was sexually harassing young women while he oversaw the newsroom.Given Huffington's new role as Uber's toxic culture clean-up consultant, Gizmodo spoke with nine Huffington Post employees, current and former, who spoke under the condition of anonymity because they continue to work in media and fear retaliation from Huffington. A former employee with direct knowledge of the investigation not only independently confirmed that the investigation was indeed the reason for Soni's transfer, but that Huffington "100 percent knew" about Soni's actions before they were reported to HR. Another employee in a senior leadership role at that time also confirmed Huffington's direct knowledge of Soni's harassing behavior before she sent out the memo, in which Huffington called it a "dream of Jimmy's, as both his parents were born and raised there." Huffington also noted in the memo that it was great for the company that Soni would be the one spearheading such a significant launch.
Gizmodo has also independently confirmed just what Huffington would likely have known regarding Soni's reputation in the newsroom and the ensuing allegations against him. Soni selected the individuals for HuffPost's Editorial Fellows program, and reportedly saw this program as a way to find a romantic partner. According to Gawker, when an editor reportedly pointed out to Soni that the group of fellows was predominantly white, blonde women, Soni reportedly responded in a semi-joking manner, "Yeah, I'm using it to find myself a wife."
In the old days Dad would drop by the office for a quiet word with Mr. Middle Management, and that would be that. These days of course, Dad is very often nowhere to be found, and daughter is On Her Own. Divorce rates, right? Actions have consequences. This is one of them, lots of 18 year old girls with no adult backup. Out there and left to sink or swim. Yummy shark snacks.
The company is supposed to take care of things like this, particularly the Holy HuffandPuff Post, where "FEMINISM!!!!" is practically their mast head. Hufflepuff Post runs stories bemoaning Toxic Masculinity every day. They are SJW Central. They are steeped in the SJW juices. So if there was ever a place where this should not be happening, HuffPoo is it.
But there it is. A textbook case of managerial impropriety. Odious behavior of the lowest kind, short of physical assault.
Life is hard. Wear a cup.

The Flopatron Files, Take 3.
Aaron
Allegations of actual wrongdoing don’t usually follow a convenient timeline like that.
Yes, they do. When one comes to political prominence, the skeleton’s of one’s past come into the light. This happens a lot.
That’s the difference between a Conservative and a Liberal, Bonnie. We don’t cover for perverts.
You should tell your fellow conservatives. They have been rallying around Moore like he’s a hero for the last few days.
Weinstein – fired from his own company.
Spacey – dropped from his show, removed from a movie at the last minute.
Louis CK – had his show cancelled.
Moore – Lauded by conservatives, defended by Hannity, his relations with children compared to Joseph and Mary.
Sure, it’s liberals who cover for perverts.
I assure you that any of the women I spend time with would leave the likes of Harvey W leaking on the carpet of his hotel room.
You’re deluded. Any woman who did that would almost certainly end up spending most of her life in prison. Or dead, when he took their weapon from them and killed them instead.
Does it bother you to be wrong about everything? I mean, I’ve seen you posting for a couple of years now, and you have been comprehensively wrong about pretty much everything you have ever offered and opinion on. I really have to question why Camestros lets you out of the spam filter, since you offer nothing but inane drivel to any discussion.
Aaron is that special kind of stupid that just begs for a beating.
Let's start with Roy Moore.
When one comes to political prominence, the skeleton’s of one’s past come into the light.
Roy Moore has been a prominent politician in the USA for a long time. People only -now- hear about these -really old- allegations? I smell flounder. But, like I've said two different times now, go at the guy. See if there's anything there. If there is, kick his ass
You should tell your fellow conservatives. They have been rallying around Moore like he’s a hero for the last few days.
I'm sorry I forgot to mention it when Sean Hannity called me to get his instructions for the week, Aaron. My bad. I'll get right on that.
Now there's Aaron's list of pervs:
Weinstein, Spacey, Louis CK, Roy Moore. Sure, it’s liberals who cover for perverts.
First of all, that's three Lefties to one Republican. Good going, Aaron. Way to math there.
Second, these three are guys who have been using their power and position in Hollywood to cover their constant, on-going, habitual abuse for many, many years. Thirty years in Weinstein's case. Dozens of victims, all covered up by the New York Times no less. Since the 1980's. Weinstein particularly was utterly untouchable until October this year. October last year, everybody swore he was a great guy. Big Hillary donor. Red carpet Oscar guy. Covered for by every Lefty rag and TV outlet in the world.
Third, do you want to talk about Bill Clinton yet?
Fourth, the three Lefties have admitted what they did. Moore maintains his innocence. That doesn't mean he -is- innocent of course, but we do know that the other three are certainly guilty. With Moore, we don't know yet. But that doesn't matter to Aaron, because "innocent until proven guilty" does not apply to sexual assault. Or Republicans. Or something, I guess.
This last one I find disturbingly typical of Aaron in particular and Lefty men in general.
Phantom: I assure you that any of the women I spend time with would leave the likes of Harvey W leaking on the carpet of his hotel room.
Aaron: You’re deluded. Any woman who did that would almost certainly end up spending most of her life in prison. Or dead, when he took their weapon from them and killed them instead.
In Aaron's world, women are weak, frail, useless little fluffballs who can't fend off a short, fat, out of shape troll like Harvey.
Furthermore if they lifted a finger to defend themselves from a sexual assault, and we are talking actual penetrative rape here, not harsh language, little frail fluffball would go to prison for "most of her life."
Women, according to Aaron, are so comprehensively useless that flabby, wheezy fat guy would most assuredly take their weapon from them and kill them with it. I am deluded to think that any armed woman could successfully fend off an unwanted sexual advance, assault or rape attempt. The idea is utterly ridiculous.
Wow.
So Aaron, how do you feel about women in the military?

The Flopatron Files, take 2
Comments at the camel's balls blog:
KR
I suspect that the spooky spam-trap resident would be surprised at what the women he hangs around with have experienced, in fact. It may not be all men doing it, but for sure it has happened to all women in ways big and small. It’s exhausting and circumscribes one’s life and professional opportunities when one has to weigh the risks of going somewhere and participating vs remaining safe.
I first became aware of the violent threats from men when I was seven years old and there was a serial killer in my town taking little girls.
When I was ten, my mother had me accompany her on an errand to drop something off at the house of a family friend because the dude used to corner her and she was afraid to be alone with him.
In high school, the girl who had the locker next to me was raped at a party (I wasn’t allowed to go to parties). Everyone was talking about it on Monday. She dropped out of school within the month and I never saw her again.
In university, I came close to being raped while listening to records with a guy friend at four o’clock in the afternoon. The door to his room was open and his parents were home.
There was a creepy dude who used to sit on a stone wall just off campus – because he was barred from the grounds – and he’d leer and say things to the women/girls walking by. It was intimidating when all you trying to do was get from class to the bus stop minding your own business.
I’ve seen at least three guys masturbating on buses while staring straight at me.
I went on a first date with a fancy symphony player to some charity thing. At one point in the evening, I was having a dance with one of the 70+ year old patrons and this dude came over, red in the face and got between us and asked me what the hell I thought I was doing dancing with someone else when I was there with him. He grabbed me by my arm hard enough to leave a bruise and dragged me off the dance floor. For some months afterward, he used to show up at my window, pacing back and forth and banging on it.
More than once, on a subway, I have been groped or pushed up against by a guy with an erection. Couldn’t do anything because I couldn’t tell who it was.
I was sitting in a laundromat once, minding my business, doing classwork while clothes were in the dryer. Some 50+ year old dude felt entitled to leave the street, walk through the whole place to the back of the laundry and tell me that I was a slut for having my legs up on the bench and flashing my “cunt” to the world. He said I should be glad he was a gentleman and not going to take what I was “advertising” but that not everyone was a nice as he was. I was wearing baggy pants and a sweatshirt
I was out for a nice walk with my cousin and all of a sudden a group of guys set upon us, and chased us right off a retaining wall with a 4 foot drop. For some reason, they went away, but if they hadn’t, well….. not much we could have done.
I was in an undisclosed European country once, sitting on a bench having lunch, and an 80+ year old gentleman sat down beside me and started chatting. I made pleasant small talk, but then without warning he lunged at me, grabbed my breast and slobbered all over my face.
I was with a tour group enjoying the sunrise over the Sahara when a bedouin camel driver kept inching toward me and put his hand up my skirt before I could slap it away. There were people sitting on either side of us. No one said or did anything.
I was in an undisclosed foreign country enjoying a tourist show and barbeque. The cowboy doing the horse tricks later came by, scooped me up under his arm, rode off into a field where no one could see us and started kissing me. I screamed until he took me back to the group. He said it was “part of the show.”
I was in a movie once and a guy sitting next to me put his hand on my knee and started moving it upward. I couldn’t change seats because it was full so I left the theater. Didn’t get to see the movie.
I was at a conference once and met a prominent guy in my profession. He showed up at the lobby of my hotel with a present for me and wanted to go out. I declined and didn’t come down. He continued to ring upstairs every ten minutes for the next two hours. I became trapped in my room because I was too scared to leave.
There are many more stories like this but you get the idea.
Cora Yes, this. Every woman has stories like these. Quite often, the harrassment occurred in plain sight, in front of teachers, parents, random bus or tram passengers, etc… Hardly any of them intervened.
As for physical resistance, when I was in 5th grade, a boy who was a year older than me harrassed me all the time. He wasn’t the only one who did this, many of the boys were harrassing girls, some girls were harrassing boys, at least one girl was harrassing other girls. Most of the teachers ignored this, even when girls were groped in class in front of them. The principal would do something, if the issue came to his attention. But most of the time, he didn’t know what was going on.
One day, I’d had enough of this boy who’d been harrassing me all the time for months at this point, so I kicked him in the shinbone. A teacher chanced to walk by and guess who got a lecture about how kicking other kids is wrong? Me. And yes, I told the teacher (a leftist long-haired peace activist BTW) that the boy had been harrassing me for months and that I only kicked him to make him stop.
That was the most horrible school I ever attended, because sexual harrassment ran absolutely rampant there. The kids involved were ten to twelve years old BTW. And mind you, I’m not blaming any of the kids for the harrassment, because at ten or twelve, they didn’t know any better. But I blame the parents who never taught them that harrassing others is wrong and I blame the teachers who didn’t intervene. Nor do I want to see the kids who harrassed others punished (which is what the principal did, when a case came to his attention). But the teachers could have tried explaining the concept of consent to the kids (which is what I did years later, when I was a teacher myself) and why it’s not okay to touch someone without their permission.
So, what have we learned?
1. Authority figures will not help you. They are either clueless, powerless, or they don't give a rat's ass what happens. Or all three, at once.
2. When you defend yourself, you get in trouble with the System.
3. Lots of random people want a piece of you. You look delicious. Like a snack.
Dear Cora, yes, I know. If I might say so, you got off easy compared to the shit-show my school life was. I've got actual scars.
Two words I have for you: Home. Schooling. Or you can subject your kid to the same nightmare you went through, times twelve, because schools are a lot worse now than they used to be. I have in-depth knowledge. Home schooling. You have been warned.
What is your plan for when the person in authority is the one trying to take a bite of you? Do you even have a plan?
Hollywood rape roundup!
https://www.thewrap.com/david-guillod-rape-covered-blood-atomic-blonde-producer-jessica-barth/
Three more women have come forward to say Hollywood manager and "Atomic Blonde" producer David Guillod raped them, including an assistant at his former management company who said he took her from her bed at a 2014 company retreat and raped her.
The other two women said he drugged and raped them at his home in 2015 — and that they woke up covered in blood.
Guillod denies all of the accusations. The new accusers, who do not wish to be identified, join "Ted" actress Jessica Barth, whose public accusation that Guillod drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2012 sparked his recent resignation from Primary Wave Entertainment, his management company.

But as Los Angeles–based writer Jessica Teich read the elder Dreyfuss's tweet, she grew "bothered," she says. "When I read about his support for his son, which I would never question, I remember thinking, But wait a minute, this guy harassed me for months," Teich told me in an interview.

The 'Star Trek' icon denies a claim by Scott R. Brunton, who says he was groped at the actor's Los Angeles condo.
A former model and actor is accusing Star Trek icon George Takei of sexual assault in 1981. The accuser, Scott R. Brunton, who was 23 at the time of the alleged incident, claims that Takei took advantage of him when he was most vulnerable.
https://www.polygon.com/comics/2017/11/10/16635592/dc-comics-eddie-berganza-sexual-misconduct-report
Five women have come forward to speak publicly about incidents of sexual harassment and misconduct they experienced at DC Comics from one of its top editors for the first time, in a Buzzfeed report published today.
That editor is Eddie Berganza, the group editor of the Superman office, who has been working at DC for over two decades and is currently overseeing Dark Knights Metal, DC's bestselling crossover.
Former female DC staffers described incidents with Berganza to Buzzfeed, from inappropriate comments to groping and unwanted kissing. Five female employees filed a group HR report on his behavior in 2010, motivated by the news that he was in the running for the position of executive editor. Those five women told Buzzfeed that they were assured that measures would be taken, but Berganza was still promoted to executive editor.
http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/warner-bros-sexual-harassment-andrew-kreisberg-1202612522/
Warner Bros. TV Group has launched an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior by Andrew Kreisberg, an executive producer on the CW shows "Arrow," "Supergirl," "The Flash" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," Variety has learned. Kreisberg, who has been suspended by the studio, has engaged in a pattern of alleged sexual harassment and inappropriate physical contact over a period of years, according to 15 women and four men who have worked with him.
None of the sources Variety spoke to reported Kreisberg to Warner Bros. human resources, on the assumption that they would pay a price for that, given how important his position was at the company. "Going to HR never crossed my mind, because it seems like nothing's been enforced," one woman says. But as word spread of this story, human resources began interviewing the women on his staff.
More SJW wankery.
In his comments, one person asked me a direct question. For the record, as it were, here's the question and my answer in context.
(Camestros, if Phantom responds to my question, I'd appreciate it if you'd let him out of the spam filter. But I have a sneaking suspicion he won't.)
So, Phantom, now that we're talking about all the lefty offenders like you wanted us to, I have a question for you. What about the Roy Moore blowup? What do you think about all the Republicans, and the people on Fox News (Sean Hannity et al.) that are rallying around him?
Bonnie McDaniel
"What about the Roy Moore blowup?"
I have a question about Roy Moore, and the allegations. The question is, why are we hearing these allegations -now- at the end of an election campaign, when it looks like Roy Moore might win? The timing seems very convenient, is all I'm saying. Reminiscent of Clarence Thomas. Allegations of actual wrongdoing don't usually follow a convenient timeline like that.
Beyond that, I have no issue with the allegations. Go get him. If he's bent, I'm thrilled to see him fall. That's the difference between a Conservative and a Liberal, Bonnie. We don't cover for perverts.
The number of perverts in the American Media Left is staggering, and y'all Wimmin of the Left have been COVERING for them all this time. To help The Cause I guess. You should probably stop.
As you may know from my blog, my opinion of assaults is that they are best dealt with by the intended victim at the time of the assault. I have organized my life around that principle. I see no reason why women should not or cannot do the same. That the SJW fruitbat wing of feminism considers this "victim blaming" is one more reason to despise SJWs. I assure you that any of the women I spend time with would leave the likes of Harvey W leaking on the carpet of his hotel room. Because they have the means, the training and the moral fortitude to do so.
This will be posted at my blog, Camestros. You can fuck around playing spam filter if you like.

Cora
Camestros is not obliged to blog about anything. And like Mark said, this case is pretty new. Other new cases include an editor at DC Comics, Andrew Kreisberg, producer of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, and a British actor named Ed Westwick, where rape allegations caused the BBC to stop production on what was supposed to be a prestige Agatha Christie adaptation for Christmas. Camestros did not mention those either, maybe because things are happening simply too quickly at the moment.
And besides, Camestros and many commenters explicity pointed out that sexual harrassment happens on all sides of the political spectrum and specifically mentioned a case involving a prominent Labour Party politician in the UK and an older case involving harrassment at an atheist conference.
I disagree. This avalanche of Lefty sexual misconduct is a dam that has finally burst after more that 50 years of silence. This is not an "everybody does it" situation. This is a "Lefties got a free pass for 50 years" situation. John F. Kennedy, Ted Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. were the earliest beneficiaries of the Code of Lefty Silence, Alfred Hitchcock was another oldie.
Camel update: Due to Mr. Floppy's assinine wankery with the comments, I will be posting things here.
Bonnie McDaniel responds!
Bonnie McDanielLooks like I pissed her off. Good. Now she's thinking for a change.
Oh, for fuck’s sake. Pardon the profanity, Camestros, but this is a sterling example of why Phantom needs to remain in the spam filter. However, I would like to post something here, and then I’ll leave it be. (Or, if you don’t want to publish this, that’s fine. I’m sure you’re getting tired of this jackass, too.)
Phantom, if you have any question about why the allegations are surfacing now, then you’re not paying attention. (Which we know we don’t, as you want to force everything into your own distorted little timeline, which has nothing to do with reality.) As I understand it, the reporters for the Washington Post, upon hearing the rumors in Alabama, sought out each of these women and interviewed them. Only after repeated interviews did they agree to go on the record and reveal their names. The original story also included 30 other corroborating sources, which are evidently needed nowadays in the face of people like you. As far as the timing, would you rather this be swept under the rug, and this pervert actually get elected to the Senate? (Which he very well might anyway. This is Alabama, after all.)
As far as the rest of your idiotic comment, I take GREAT issue with this statement. I’ve been pondering over this for a while, and I finally know just what is wrong with your entire attitude towards this.
“As you may know from my blog, my opinion of assaults is that they are best dealt with by the intended victim at the time of the assault. I have organized my life around that principle. I see no reason why women should not or cannot do the same.”
This is just straight-up bullshit. While I’m very happy that you, Mr. Macho Man of the Martial Arts, can take out anybody who tries to molest you (really! you go! and hope your opponent isn’t some Very Important Person who can get you arrested, and maybe even sent to jail, or ruined financially, by a crooked cop and/or a crooked district attorney!) NOT EVERYONE CAN OR SHOULD DO THIS. It is INFURIATING, and COMPLETELY out of bounds, for you to insist that just because YOU did it, everyone can. This is simply NOT TRUE, and you have NO BUSINESS trying to make everyone follow in your footsteps.
Instead, it’s far better to CHANGE THE CULTURE around sexual harassment. We have a sterling example of how to do this: MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers). It is NO LONGER socially acceptable to drive while drunk. People are encouraged–nay, expected–to take intoxicated drivers’ keys away from them, and bar owners are sued up the wazoo–and lose those suits–when they continue to serve obviously drunk people. Designated drivers are part of the culture now. AS THEY SHOULD BE. Even when it comes to domestic violence, though we still have a long ways to go, at least husbands can no longer legally beat their wives, and it’s no longer acceptable to say, “It’s a family matter.” Because it bloody well ISN’T. It’s a SOCIETAL matter, which means you and me, all of us, are responsible for watching out for other people, and many professionals are required to report suspected physical or sexual abuse.
We can do the same thing as regards sexual harassment. Indeed, I hope what’s happening now is the beginning of this dam breaking. Let’s just suppose that the culture is changing and will change to the point where everyone, man or woman, is encouraged to promptly report all incidents; where such reports are taken seriously, believed and investigated; and perpetrators know that if they’re caught, their balls (or ovaries) will be nailed to the wall, their asses will be fired, and they will SUFFER CONSEQUENCES. THIS IS THE CULTURE WE NEED. This is the culture we DID NOT HAVE at the time that most of these incidents happened. And guess what, Phantom? In such a culture, it is not NECESSARY for anyone to have to learn martial arts (though if you still want to, go for it) or carry a gun all the damn time. It is not NECESSARY to have to deal with your molester yourself, and force yourself to do something you may not be physically or emotionally equipped to do, and possibly further traumatize yourself in the process, because justice will be done.
Sorry for the capslock and the length, folks. But I’ve been wanting to get this out in the open for a while, because Phantom is completely, utterly WRONG about this. Thanks for indulging me.
First, the Roy Moore thing. This is a politically motivated DemocRat media fishing expedition. Even assuming Moore is completely guilty, nobody is fool enough to think any of this is being done -now- to protect the original victims or get justice for them. This is all about denying Moore an election. It is dirty politics, and it stinks of fish.
Aside from that, if Moore did something bad to those women, I'm very happy to see him go down for it, and I said that before. If he goes down from a dirty, politically motivated hit job, and he's guilty, I'm still good with it.
My question is, what does Bonnie want to do with the false accusers if it turns out this whole thing is bullshit and it costs Moore the election? Wild guess, a hearty "Well done!" and a pat on the back.
Second, the culture thing. This seems to have made poor old Bonnie really lose her shit.
Bonnie said: "It is INFURIATING, and COMPLETELY out of bounds, for you to insist that just because YOU did it, everyone can. This is simply NOT TRUE, and you have NO BUSINESS trying to make everyone follow in your footsteps."
I'm not trying to make anybody do anything. I'm doing things for myself. Rather, Bonnie, I do believe it is -you- who are trying to make people do things. But let's talk about changing cultures a moment, shall we?
"Instead, it’s far better to CHANGE THE CULTURE around sexual harassment."
There is no situation and no place in Western Civilization where it is legally or morally permissible to sexually harass a female, a co-worker, or a child. Just the accusation is a career-ending event for most. That is the current cultural environment that these molestations are occurring in, Bonnie. They're still doing it.
"It is NO LONGER socially acceptable to drive while drunk."
Good example. Thirty year long advertising campaign, huge social stigma, massive government penalties, extensive enforcement campaign. People still dive drunk. Drunk drivers kill people every fucking week. I used to see their victims in PT clinic all the time. I told them to drive a bigger car, or next time they might die.
That's "victim blaming." Bad Phantom!
But Bonnie, why did I tell them to get a bigger car? Because everybody I met who had been hit in a small car was smashed to shit, while the ones driving big cars had fewer, less serious injuries. I know of one case where a person was hit by three different idiots in three different rear-end collisions. Each time in a massive 1970s Cadillac. Because after every accident where some schmuck rear-ended my patient, the patient's dad would buy them another huge old Cadillac. Total damage after three high-speed collisions? Minor neck strain.
Victim blaming works.
"And guess what, Phantom? In such a culture, it is not NECESSARY for anyone to have to learn martial arts (though if you still want to, go for it) or carry a gun all the damn time. It is not NECESSARY to have to deal with your molester yourself, and force yourself to do something you may not be physically or emotionally equipped to do, and possibly further traumatize yourself in the process, because justice will be done."
Wow. Big finish. If only we can get the right laws passed, then the police will be there and everything will be okay. Because MADD ended drunk driving. So Mothers Against Sexual Harassment will be able to end that too. MASH for the win!
Personally, I drive the biggest thing they make because I know damn well that I see drunks on the road all the time. I see them in the country, I see them in the city. I see them on side-roads and on the super highway. I arrange my vehicle and my driving style to minimize my risks of being killed by one of them, because they are out there.
When I was young, being a homosexual was illegal. Soliciting young men in public was guaranteed jail time. I got solicited all over the place. I was very clear that nobody was going to come and help me. Nobody else was there, for one thing. People don't do this shit in front of witnesses. It's illegal, right?
Therefore I arrange my wardrobe, accoutrements, and the places I visit to minimize my risk. This is inconvenient and annoying, but much better than being set-upon, beaten, robbed and possibly killed. These things do happen to old fat guys like me. All the time. Even in Canada. Shit happens.
But, so far anyway, it does not happen to me. Because I make damn sure not to be where the shit is going down. That's what you actually learn in Martial Arts, Bonnie. Violence is almost always useless. Weapons are almost always dead weight. You learn to plan for the worst, and avoid it.
Don't wear slippery leather shoes.
Don't catch the attention of cops.
Don't go after powerful, important men.
Don't strike at the wrong time. Wait for the right time.
The problem, as I see it, is that Bonnie wants somebody else to take care of this for her. She doesn't want to live in a world where she has to look after herself.
Sorry to break it to you Bonnie, but you are the one that is going to take care of you. Sadly, it is necessary for you to deal with your molester, yourself, right then. Just the same as I have to deal with every drunk asshole on the QEW at night on the drive home. Sucks, but that's the way it is.
So, if you don't want to provide for your own defense and protection from abusers, predators, criminals and regular sleazy assholes, you will continue being a victim of them. Because while it is not your fault that these people try to victimize you, it IS your problem. Meaning, Bonnie, the problem is yours and it is you that has to solve it. No one else is going to. It is not a societal problem, it is a personal problem.
As I said at the Flopatronian bog, which he probably deleted, you can't change society and you can't change other people. You can only change yourself. I changed myself from a naive 17 year old into somebody that is not a target for predators. Your solution will be unique to you, and hopefully as effective as mine.
You don't have to be like me. But you do have to take responsibility for your own actions and your own security.
UPPERDATE: Bonnie speaks!
Bonnie McDanielThis comment of Bonnie's is in answer to a different poster than me, and thus slightly out of context. But, they don't seem to mind taking me out of context, so I'll return the favor.
@Aaron
“Does it bother you {Phantom} to be so wrong about everything?”
No, apparently not. He left another long-winded, idiotic response to my comment on his blog, ranting about the conservative nirvana of “personal responsibility.” He believes that if laws don’t get rid of every instance of bad behavior, there’s no use having them at all. In other words, he wants to live in an anarchy, not a civilization. I didn’t bother to reply (going back to my theme of not casting my pearls before swine).
Oh well. I take considerable solace in the fact that he lives in Canada and is therefore stuck with Justin Trudeau.
The thing for me is that out of all that big long post above where I explained it all, this is what she got: "He believes that if laws don’t get rid of every instance of bad behavior, there’s no use having them at all."
That is an interesting take-home out of what I said. "After thirty year of MADD campaigns, there's still drunks, so maybe you should be careful out there," became "There are still drunks so MADD failed and its all pointless and they should repeal it all."
On the bright side, she seems to have abandoned the victim blaming horseshit. Or maybe she just got tired. Hard to say.
